Sit your ass down Ollie |
There was no way that Sandy Alderson could have let the Mets enter the regular season with those two joining the team up north. Citi Field would have gone ballistic, for the 3 days that there are actually people in the seats. Luis Castillo was hobbled by injuries for most of his Mets tenure and his banishment from the club was set in stone when he dropped the A-Rod pop-up against the Yankees. In reality, its a huge question mark on whether the Mets replacement at second will improve the team. One thing will be a given, the Mets will have more power from that position but OBP and defense could be a different story. It is really what Castillo symbolized that made his exit a necessity. He symbolized ineptitude, failure and expectations not met. His release will be a huge burden off the backs of the Mets management, the team and of course, the fans who hate him so much.
Castillo's infamous drop |
The whole "left-specialist" charade was a fucking joke. He sucked in the Mexican league this winter and he sucked all spring training. He will go down as one of the worst, most hated Mets of all time. Good riddance.
