Knicks need to find consistency

Its great that the Knicks have finally escaped from their decade-long, Isiah imposed, tomb and returned real basketball to the Garden, but let me temper all of that enthusiasm right now. This team, even with Melo in tow, is not making more than a splash in the playoffs, and it certainly won't be a cannonball splash. They are talented and by that I mean beyond the obvious contributions from Melo and STAT. They have a stable of players who can score and their depth is probably at least on par with half of the playoff contenders. What this beat down they got tonight from the Pacers (106-93) proves is that this team is not ready to be consistent. They are not ready to fully commit to defense and their evolution as a team is still in its natal stages. Hopefully in time these collective lapses in cohesiveness and effort will subside but their inconsistency will be their ultimate downfall this year.
