Mets opening day Lineup

Willie Harris will bat in the 2 hole for opening day
I'll get to a season prediction in a bit but here is the Mets opening day starting lineup for tomorrow's away game against the Florida Marlins.

1. Jose Reyes-SS
2.Willie Harris- LF
3.David Wright-3B
4.Carlos Beltran-RF
5.Angel Pagan-CD
6. Ike Davis-1B
7.Brad Emaus-2B
8.Josh Thole-C
9.Mike Pelfrey-P

Obviously this lineup is not complete without Jason Bay and its obviously just one game but I have to nit-pick just for a second. Why the hell is Willie Harris hitting #2? That is a spot that is clearly a great fit for Angel Pagan. He has speed, he puts the ball in play and that's where he's likely going to bat for the entire season. I don't know why Collins has placed the less talented Harris in the 2 hole.

I would have liked to see Lucas Duda's pop in LF but there is some seniority involved there. Lets Go Mets baby!

George Brett Shits himself

Funny story...Hall of Famer George Brett talks about when he shits himself.

Song Of The Day: Glassjaw - Jesus Glue (Studio Version) (High Quality)

Glassjaw are post-hardcore-progressive rock legends and their new stuff is (although more toned down) an interesting next step for them. Jesus Glue is one of the new songs they've been playing for quite a bit now. I saw Glassjaw last night at the Best Buy Theatre and they absolutely killed it. Kids were crying in the corner because they couldn't handle the power erupting from the stage. This is just one of the many unbelievable songs they played.

What you got in dem jeans?

Caught with his pants down
It may be the stupidest story of the year but I think there's a bit of an under toe in play here. Dez Bryant...the future of the Cowboys...the star rookie receiver with a past peppered with laughable slip-up's was issued a warning (Not an arrest) for wearing his pants too low and showing his undies at a North Dallas mall. Normally, this wouldn't be a story but since its the Cowboys and its Dez Bryant it is. This is actually not Dez's first mall incident. He's been cited for cutting people in line and having a verbal altercation with a lady friend. Some people just can't handle their shopping I guess....Dez and his agent are saying that it was actually his friends whose pants were sagging and Dez was just trying to understand what was going on...that sounds pretty intelligent and truthful.

My first reaction is that the security guard was probably some low-level hick looking to make a name for himself by trying to stand up to a star black guy and there probably is some truth to this. I mean who really cares if your pants are at your ass? It's a mall not the White House correspondence dinner. I'm pretty sure few white guys would be asked to do this and I would probably be upset too if I were Dez. Like go fuck off Paul Blart.

On the other hand, Dez Bryant needs to understand something. He is being paid by the man. He is in the mainstream culture now and that means he has to somewhat play by the rules because there is a spot-light on him and a greater amount of accountability. He has to be smarter and just diffuse the situation before it turns into what this is turning into. Just pull your pants up, buckle your belt and go by your Lebron's and go to a strip club. Stop hanging out in the mall like your in 7th grade.

And not for nothing but at the end of the day if you wear your pants way down your a fucking tool so Dez: Man up starting at the waist.

Muse wont be playiing Origin of Symmetry songs live anymore

I don't know what the hell these guys are thinking. According to an article at ultimate-guitar.com, Muse, the heavy-weight rock band from the UK will hang up the cleats on their first major hit (2nd overall) album, Origin of Symmetry. Apparently, after the upcoming concert at Reading, they will no longer play material from this album.

Origin of Symmetry is arguable their best album and contains some of their most exciting live songs (i.e. New Born above.) It also contains Bliss, Plug in Baby and Space Dementia among others. It's not like Muse has been in the game so long that these songs no longer hold up. This is not like Radiohead not playing Creep at concerts...that song was so overplayed I understand why they got sick of playing it. None of these songs were hits like "Creep" and the are all more fun to play.

Unfortunately, the main stream American audience just found out about Muse after they released their most commercial and worst album, "The Resistance." I hate when bands start catering to the mainstream...it makes their music terrible. (Green Day and Kings of Leon's latest efforts can attest to that) But at least those bands still play their good songs at concerts. I think that Muse fans will start leaving their concert more and more disappointed when an entire slew of their best songs are removed from the set list.

Ollie Pinstripes?

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/03/yankees-have-some-interest-in-oliver-perez.html

Just a rumor but word is that the Yankees...the New York Yankees...have some interest in signing Oliver Perez. I'll say that name again...Oliver Perez. The bane of the Mets...the most disgusting, disgraceful, retarded pitcher ever to don the blue and orange. Ollie folded like a beach chair under the Citi Field pressure and Cashman & the Yanks are considering signing him because of their lefty injury problem in the bullpen? Oliver Perez would disintegrate before John Sterling's eye's on the bump at Yankee Stadium.

As a Mets fan you have to love this. Imagine the Yankees signed Ollie? It might last a week before he's cut but just think of all the games he could blow for them! It would be hysterical. I would love to see this go down but surely the Yankees are smarter than this right?

Song Of The Day: R.E.M - What's the frequency Kenneth

No band has ever really sounded like R.E.M. and no band probably ever will. These days that may actually be a good thing but throughout the 80's and much of the 90's they were one of the greatest acts around. This song is one of the most clever commentaries on "Generation X" that there is. It also was the first track on an album (Monster-1994) that , in dedication to Kurt Cobain, completely redefined R.E.M.'s sound.
